i imagine the waters

11:14 in poems by Tanner

i imagine the waters
by tanner brockwell

i imagine the waters
i can feel the wetness
i know that they welcome
you have seen the shore
you have tasted salt spray
you have eager ways

i dally inbetween
i bide my time
i know i am returning
you rise anticipating
you long forlorn hungry
you have a passion

there is a cycle
there are ways we know
there is always something new
here is comfort
here is a way to rest
here is the summer sunset

i imagine the waters
i can feel the wetness
i know that they welcome

where were we

14:36 in poems by Tanner

where were we
by tanner brockwell

where were we
in the summers moonlight
heartshaped we waited
on this day
away to be
hearts apart
with the creaking swing
the sigh of twilight
ages could be
ages would be
the magnetism in kind

in the morning

10:53 in poems by Tanner

in the morning
by tanner brockwell

in the morning
the blue winds swept
across the sky
and flurries scatter
then descend
and wakeful dreams
pass the tip
of the edge of morning
and it is cold
and the air is so very sharp
and the dry light snow
is stacked so neat
on the car and steps and roof
and i am cold in the morning air
i am cold so far from my bed
i am cold when i think of dreams
for in my dreams i slept so very well

my vanilla bean

16:38 in poems by Tanner

my vanilla bean
by tanner brockwell

my vanilla bean
how sweet and rich
head over hills smooth
creamy soft
i dream of such a taste
and when it is real
it is sublime
spending time
the taste of sweet
my vanilla bean
i long for sleep
with the hours that i keep
your taste more real
smooth creamy tell do tell
head over hills smooth
i wish for no respite
just the soft kiss
like an endless this
my vanilla bean

butterflies roam free

15:26 in poems by Tanner

butterflies roam free
by tanner brockwell

butterflies roam free
the sunshine of other days
where grassy parks
were filled with larks

butterflies roam free
there is no toll upon my heart
there is no price i say
but only join me for a day

butterflies roam free
only if you want to see
all the world that waits in view
it waits for me and you

where the westlin wind goes

13:23 in poems by Tanner

where the westlin wind goes
by tanner brockwell

where the westlin wind goes
follow me
a heart
what is a heart
a rumor of why’s
i see deep into your eyes
i see the deep
where the westlin wind goes
follow me

leviathan

17:27 in poems by Tanner

leviathan
by tanner brockwell

leviathan
of a slumber
in so deep
and dreams
though dark and slow
can only see the light
in motes
and beams
from another world
time is moving slower
the minutes become
years and years and years
for telling what was lived
and what was breathed
dancing under another sun
when shoals flew swift
strange patterns
telling again
the time
oh there were ages like
ages before
and ages again
but the anomalies were constant
recurring and troublesome
take my word
these words
and spread them to the farthest shore
and again
til only the pieces
of idioms remain
gleanings of truth
on the waves

you told the beads

16:12 in poems by Tanner

you told the beads
by tanner brockwell

you told the beads
pretty as you please
looks of longing for stars
a starter
a soul
wanderer old
no cold waste
no freezing taste
set foot in dusty climes
where an oasis waits
this is no mirage
a traveler told
another campfire fantasy
of a mountain in the sands
to scale this craggy place
picking up the pace
to explore this and more
night time fantasies

name me not

15:13 in poems by Tanner

name me not
by tanner brockwell

name me not
worthy
or worthless
a stranger
the same
nothing
or abounds
and i would pick
leaves in flight
an article of absence
garments of obscuration
how may i clothe
an ideal
or should it stand
naked in the night
where stars dare not stay
the firmament a turmoil
which has scattered the day
and when this alone
has borne the final rage
what new whisper
would welcome the same
