survive
by tanner brockwell
survive
there amongst the footrace
of the worn stone blocks
pieces of history
laid out laid low
markers of miles
pounding steps of distance
running with the fire
ice in the lungs
this is good
the slant hour of sun
before set is nigh
carving silhouettes
against a serious sky
and once there were tools
and once hands would work
so this is life and so we thrive
foot runners [...]
teardrop smooth
by tanner brockwell
teardrop smooth
the walls of the tidal pool
wet and glisten
small life in stasis
this wonder
of quiet nature
turmoil only a few yards away
but here is
small ideas
small horizons
small compass
from some fearful step
left an aeon ago
in the wet
and silent
there is a life
complex yet circumspect
near to the sea
near enough for me
dusting
by tanner brockwell
dusting
the inner edge
the hidden gleam
for a hidden friend
facets crisp
beyond the wisp
crystalline tone
tethers alone
would raise
would rise
beyond other skies
to soar
close bodies
attract
and charged
with spectral glow
against a tapestry
of light
