a chill task to walk upon

a chill task to walk upon
by tanner brockwell
a chill task to walk upon
the star mill trail
for open to the dark lake
and winding winding
into the sheltered place
under the low trees
where foot steps are soft
the seeping wet of a dark tea left
a brewing for awhile
oh i have not seen the wild so
i have not seen the free
but there is an air around this place
of quaint calm and relief
way out there across the flat
the rippled and the waters
in lapping waves have a curious sound
the motion of the winds across the dark lake
and once awhile once i saw the silhoutettes
of white majesty upon the wave
so nature is here i see
nature is here for you to find
all it takes is a will heart
and the rest of a quiet mind
