and here the myriad stars

and here the myriad stars
by tanner brockwell (cc) 2007

and here the myriad stars
gathered beneath your feet
a thousand thousand
uncounted
nameless
the piercing subject of a gaze
whither would time flow
the molasses slow ebb
dark in the recess
small stream as twist the glass
dwindling time as an event
the precarious fall
slower and slower
towards invented days
to millenia
unable to send even messages
the bottle now empty
not a medium to transmit
could inherit
could imagine
the long left shoals
where swimming schools
of pierroted fish
move in an order and fission of being
you are i — our minds — we move — should
movement that can not constrain
because the motion is the emotion
wordless for consequence
could bliss could this
could anything be sure
sure enough surely we’ve had it rough
but does that leave
leave anything else
but the thought unspoken
the chain unbroken
the memory
simple token
that if i was here well you were there
