avoid the rush
by tanner brockwell (cc) 2007

avoid the rush
could we say yes
to the chance
not loneliness
but sublime
weekends that
we dawdled
with entwined limbs
languished for
the dew and dawn
the sense so new
the friendly time
so finding we
the realm of this
could make we sense
or after say
the words before
ringing sharp
so crystal clear
there wasn’t a doubt
never in your heart
that staying now
was staying right
how the lights seem dim
in the night
fumbling til morning breaks
there was a bridge
so were we then
standing with backs to the wind
and finger holds
and finger tight
if i let you go
would you float
beyond these shores
beyond these fields
your trajectory rising
i let you float
your own your true
what more could i ask
would i ask
from you
