china cup
by tanner brockwell

china cup
your time has come
coffee tea or decaf
that was then
this is now
song of a forty-five
who’s special
not so special
not so strange
stretch so high
you still can fly
leaving empty streets
leaving these silent beats
you found the winsome dawn
after the lions song
after was long ago
after my dearest when
after was here again
break it down
to build it up
you came from ashes
you came from dust
indigo something new
traces pictographing but static
frozen
the cold yearn of knowledge
what did you know
what did you see
the empty streets
the empty beat
dances aren’t forgotten when
after seven after ten
the steps would move the steps evolve
new riddles yet to solve

“new riddles yet to solve” no kidding… this one boggles my mind. Who can know what you are really thinking in these lovely words. I believe that is why i hold them in my head and heart for so long, after i read them. They sing to me a siren song of glorious enchantment… that seems just out of my reach. captivating Tanner, truely.
