cloy as night air

cloy as night air
by tanner brockwell
cloy as night air
the enveloping air around
the surfacing
the murmured sound
dark amethyst dark
sweeter air
the breeze carries not a care
across the rippled river deep
as though in furthest sleep
the glean of lights from a far shore
there is something unsaid
the rush of mingled laughter
and down for later
even if the night grinds slow
this is not some quiet show
this is sudden and real
reverberant canopy
across the dim tableau
the drape of linen
the caress of silk
touching skin to air
filled with electricity
charging
a build of containment
charged for release
running in the night
wild and free
