by tanner brockwell
even without thorn
flower thy sting is sure
flower petal graceful stem
the hue is deep and lingers then
the sweet scent is liquid upon the tongue
the scented allure and then even some
for desires that would quench
in the surest flame

to show the tendriled reaching form
that in the moonlight or sunlight
is truly graceful and new

were hints of later bloom
and showered basked in green array
seedlings struggled shrugging dared
to fling those small leafs into the air
and a sudden bursting petals bright
scented the bed of day and night
infused intrigued insatiated
as the sun in carriage roams
to return in the coming day
sweet is the environ
speckled in the dawns own dew
these tiny jewels glinting oh
among the morning and the new
