how is this grace bestowed

how is this grace bestowed
though hardly any know
the sense of otherness
a time of wonderment
why the fields stand open wide
while thrush and sparrow e’en glide
taking wonder on lifted wing
of this wonder they would sing
my own my dear said to me
before words could only be
this is the only way
this is the nearest day
