light as a feather

light as a feather
by tanner brockwell

light as a feather
as light as you please
for something was floating
on a light breeze
and all was quiet
except for the rustle
all was quiet
as seasons change
and moods are different
or moods are strange
the air is burnt or crisp
and the winging vee
southern flies
for there is a turning
while turning inside
and all the day
while watching so
all the day there was a blow
and a blast as the seasons change
isn’t it strange it was different
last year
it was cold or dark or slow
but there was a rustle
and a light breeze
it started out different
differently strange
and i found these old postcards
they were from an age
when steam was a motion
so differently strange
and carriages roared
across continents wide
and i was lost in the hustle
an emigrant heart
and these shores were open
as no country strange
for this was land of prairies and dust
if the rain was late like everything must
you’d find the dry memento
you’d fold it and say
light as a feather
on a light breeze
