oh baby you’ve come so far
by tanner brockwell

oh baby you’ve come so far
sand between your toes
was only a memory
those scorching sands
are burning still
but you’ve found your place
aisles like dominoes
to and fro the waves
and waves of constant flow
if i looked into your eyes
would you remember the moon
cooling on the dusty dune
sweet and sickly
she sheltered there
maybe only then maybe
would we say the arc began
to triumphalism
in this system two bodies burn
burn baby like you did before
burn both the night and day
do that for me
passage of a body fair
pin prick light on dawn
light that once would deceive
now truer shines
through me and you
