old tears and diamond dreams
by tanner brockwell (cc) 2007

old tears and diamond dreams
decades til the sentry
would grin would grin
and you were gone
oh my john — oh
entering the very first ring
fire lap and then make clean
the awesome sight and furious sound
would ashes block the noonish sun
so you went so unlike you were
making relics making fun
i swore beneath these wings
mezzo tinted after effect
i died before i went
how soulless could it get
i broke the rack before my word
steadfast the fading sand
i have found a crueler month
but i will find a brighter day
wishes are following me
the vanquished for the vanished
pick a note make it quick
so unquiet is this time
