petals brush tender
by tanner brockwell

petals brush tender
in descent below
the winds moved the limbs
and fluttering like tiny wings
the shades smooth pastel
amongst the orchard grass
green and light
thick as a forest
though soft as pillow
so falling like thoughts
caught in the breeze
carried a ways and dropping
settling
moving towards the resting place
in the spring
blossoms show
the catch and go
of a memory of waking
and flutters like
the wings on high
a thousand thousand
or just one butterfly
