strayed from paths we’re on

11:00 in poems by Tanner

strayed from paths we’re on
by tanner brockwell

strayed from paths we’re on
footstep fast step
in and out the weave
a murmuring crowd
for thoughts in motion
thoughts aloud
passed from lips
past lingered trips
past the long long way
the night is new and so the day
for past these steps
passed this way
where stars and moon
for sailing so
the quieting
the kiss of slumber
the dark of time
that lowering
fell on lids
and lips
that fluttered brief
the pulse and sigh
and stumbled once
before we fly
