the beam and walls
2008/01/01 in poems
the beam and walls
by tanner brockwell
the beam and walls
have all been toppled
so sweat has dried awhile
and stacked here
in the star cast light
there is a whisper
and forth is brought fire
and kindle now
the old year passing
kindle now it leaves
to build a light
a burning light
that burns throughout the night
for memory
for sanctity
for all the wholly world wide
is a glimpse
is the merest hope
that great works
can make great impressions
