the highest with dormant fire
by tanner brockwell

the highest with dormant fire
capped always in finery
surrounded five
like the breath exhale
with no equal
no twin
the purest example
individual
like the falling snow
from the night before
that has covered the teahouse
stopping for the full bodied green tea
in the morning the sun has a sparkle
and ice crystals are like diamonds
the high roof blanket covered
the tea is strong
soaking my palette
a steam bellows is my lungs
and i can see the slope
in the far distance
an affront to locomotion
as the forest below
casts a magnetic spell
and this cold air and snow
can not be as cold
as the ice cave still unknown
