the quiet cup
by tanner brockwell (cc) 2007

the quiet cup
before the water bubbles
boils for my tea
in the morning having cream
poured over the white bag
full of the crisp aroma
smooth yet exotic
sweet without honey
sweet without
yet i would wait
for the taste
pouring the steaming water
over the tea and bag
it brews
it steeps
it suffuses the water
transformed into an elixir
filling me with warm satisfaction
travel the world
in a teacup
