the withering wrote
by tanner brockwell (cc) 2007

the withering wrote
lines that needed said
i have a heart
and yet i bled
for some a verse
and others a note
i have yet to find that tiny mote
mine eyes most clear
the glistening sheen
is that the time you understand me
a cruel wind
yet crueler still
the hushless sigh
a rolling ‘cross the sky
no words no words no words
emptied box empty now
the fearful watch
unsprung unknown undeniable
thy loss as seen
and lost supreme
a monument
a sentiment
a brass line
and booming salute
these are memories
now
for rebuilding
a new tomorrow
for yesterdays are put away
ghosts as gone will haunt us not
