a soulless estate

a soulless estate
by tanner brockwell
a soulless estate
the green tract
street lighted bulwarks
the island minus the sand
the emptied hollow of the once wereonce were once
and the shells without roar
of far far shores
are silent
in the roundabout way
cul-de-sac completeonce were once
the dark frames
will in weather
shift into the collapse
of follies and frivolities
gone but for gray foundationonce for once
once we were
the flit wind of flight
that stopped for rest
and carrying on carried
the soft message of advance
