in the darkest

in the darkest
by tanner brockwell
in the darkest
before the dawn
where ache and break
went hand over
a plea respite
against sorrow fold
wrap hearts in care
and there there in the night
pin’t o the dark sky
was a hue that bent
and spread rosy thru
and night was took away
heart hue for rising
pale then lighter
coming of this brighter
the dawn rose rays
lifting hearts again
where there was dark
it fades away
this light is bright
and near and true
thought for was over due
but melodies of the tiny thrush
lilting cross the boughs
pass dark until
will rise the sun
and gladden all and everyone
