alarum calls a rise
by Tanner Brockwell
alarum calls a rise
the cries into the cold night
calamity calling calls
as falls the spun embers
rose and left into the night
they are not gone
but dimmed to the far side
dark and rise with the threads
of emblematic dawn
can you carve power into the front
exhales as a wall white fogged
drag a moist finger across to leave
laying the temporal command
significant and damn
the cold still begins to breathe
the world wakes from a tumbled
slumber slept the illumination
blue fluoresce vibrate
shudder in the shiver erect
jump move and get the stiff out
pour the roaring bubble
over dried leaves lay the swirl
tea and sweet honey hun
in your cup swirl and meet
cups edge pressed to lips blue
crack that smile cross teeth
imagine another night
could it be could be all right
found the drifts are deep and cold
pulled collar tight
leaning into the wind
