inside
by Tanner Brockwell

inside
centered
the smooth over flow of totality
perspective
of a round aspen
rod held to the eye
sighting along
it is straight
and true through and through
bargains for ounces
or pounds that rain fell in
no uncertain strife
washing away
washed after the party
matter discarded
for real and ethereal
the guardians fly over sky
not for once or twice
but over and over again

firmament arrayed though elusive

2011/02/22 in poems

firmament arrayed though elusive
by Tanner Brockwell

firmament arrayed though elusive
this small star moved the sky
and ground beneath tread
up that hill again
the sinews felt
brow moist as winds
tore the dry leaves across the grass
and frozen grey the lake was silent
impassive an immense quiet
the waters still in slumber wait
for warmer clime oh time revolve
and come with the bulbs of spring
daffodils poked slender from the earth
smiling at the familiar visit
how many times around spun
a dance like motion
where the world would stop

before you knew

2010/10/28 in poems

before you knew
by Tanner Brockwell

before you knew
before intents were true
in the blink of a tender eye
in the whisper goodnight
and dreams take thee
in the small hours between
sunset sunrise and wise
in the noted edge
that gifts are strange
tokens passed from hand
to hand can you remember
peculiar perturbations
the inward frequency vibrations
that resonate so well
there were iridescent rays
in that fabulous alien sky
clouded hoverings over celestial
bodies that unround number
eclipse thrice passed why
or how movement could be compassed
into the fantastical orrery
of imaginations or dreams
revolving in a slow majesty

let it rain

2010/10/15 in poems

let it rain
by Tanner Brockwell

with no reserve
no hesitation
the lowering clouds
are fit with moisture
leaves tremble in a breeze
the vibratory experience
heavy as a deep breath
exhaled across the trees
a very simulty of sky
and leaves and see
the air is palpable
ecstatic
the pent up energies
the elements contained
momentous capricious
held in stasis for
that very instant that
transpires within
transformed by climate
or this state
or that way
or the transition of
imperceptible static
orchestrated
upon softened skin
the warm glow
as the sunken orb
of low sun dusks
waning horizon
filled with the amber
of a sweet taste
honeysuckle
is a vibrant perfume
wafting among the limbs
trailing the brush
tending to the mown lawn
spread across the view
there is an energizing
matron mystic gallant
soar for once for
twice cries welled flow
these thrice sublime
straddling the noon dusk
where the evening musk
scented low in valley clings
wild things amongst the wild

come as the rains

2010/09/24 in poems

come as the rains
by Tanner Brockwell

come as the rains
fell the drops
between drops
that rush of torrent
pitter and patter
rivulets coursing
down glass
down streams
the gulleys flushed
with the soft autumnal
flow towards
some far off destination
but dim memories
the origins the place
where drop lets
clothed in heavens rays
fell from on high
and glancing off
the edge of sky
fall far to earth
in rainbow wise

what strange country is this

2010/08/22 in poems

what strange country is this
by Tanner Brockwell

what strange country is this
that is filled with thoughts of bliss
a lark a sigh the winging fly
crossed o’er the rampant sky

i have found the faeries trust
they gathered in an ought or must
and lording though the kingy rides
then to touch the crops or hides

they have this peculiar look
and if i crossed this bobbled brook
i made the warding quick and fast
that faery keep to their own at last

a spectral tide of shades and gloom
washed across the fields and moon
they’re only visiting for a while
then off they go for another mile

for in the night

2009/06/08 in poems

for in the night
by tanner brockwell

for in the night
when fleeting thoughts in review
filled my head
and i was taken to rest
as for rest was in my bed
i thought of the briefest
tiniest mote
that fleeting moment
upon the logs
or blocks and then
the puffed white clouds
flying in a blue sky – sky
and then strolling
for together
and then we were
close and familiar
imagine wasn’t necessary
oh for the briefest
moments like jewels
that crystallized and enlightened

alarum calamity

2009/05/23 in poems

alarum calamity
by tanner brockwell

alarum calamity
the strife of life
and love in this time
of dimmed sky and truth
so clearly felt palpate
the reverberations sudden
and wait between breaths
betwixt inward full and outward go
the space is filled with silence
for a time and what is this
the putative fit and start
like long beating heart
and ba-room-a-room away
the night returns
to silence but for
this punctuation of tumult
